TRAINING MATERIALS FOR AUDITORS AND ASSESSORS OF QMS AND EMS

Although ISO develops and maintains the ISO 9000 series of quality management standards, and ISO 14000 Environmental management system standards, it does not itself operate any system for verifying conformity to these standards. This means that ISO does not assess or audit quality or environmental management systems and does not carry out approval of ISO 9000 or ISO 14000 certificates, which are issued by certification bodies (registrars) in the different countries independently of ISO.Therefore, the ISO Central Secretariat does not possess any specific training materials nor does it organize any training schemes or courses for would-be quality auditors or assessors.

However, a number of ISO members are involved in these kinds of activities and we would suggest that you contact the ISO member in your country, who may be able to provide you with the requested guidance on how to become an auditor of quality and/or environmental management systems or direct you to the relevant training scheme.

Any certification bodies (registrars) operating in your country should also be in a position to advise you in this respect. Your ISO member should be able to provide information about the certification bodies (registrars) operating in your country or region.

We should also point out that ISO Online is an invaluable tool for any would-be assessors and represents a large resource of information on standards related issues. See particularly the section ISO 9000/ISO 14000.
