| VERIFICATION OF THE EXISTENCE OF A COMPANY'S CERTIFICATE
We would like to clarify that ISO does not itself issue certificates of conformity to ISO 9000 and ISO 14000. This activity is carried out independently by certification bodies in different countries. Therefore, there is no "official" central database of ISO 9000 or ISO 14000 certificates and ISO is not in a position to verify the existence or otherwise of individual company certificates. At present, certification schemes are in operation in a number of countries, in which quality systems and environmental management systems are assessed for conformance to ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 respectively, by third parties (certification bodies), who deliver certificates to the companies concerned.
As a first step towards verification, you could contact the ISO member in your country, who may know of any national databases with the information you seek. However, in all probability, you will need to contact the specific certification body which delivered the certificate. As a general rule, you should not have any difficulty in obtaining details of the certification body from the company concerned.
