STATISTICS ON CERTIFICATIONS WORLDWIDE

We would like to clarify that ISO does not itself issue certificates of conformity to ISO 9000 or ISO 14000. Certification is carried out independently of ISO by numerous certification bodies in the various countries. Therefore, there is no "official central database" of ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 certificates and ISO does not hold lists of names or any information about certified organizations.

However, ISO does compile annual statistics on the number of certifications to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and publishes it as The ISO Survey of Certifications.

The latest edition of The ISO Survey (covering the period up to and including 2005) contains the regional share of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certificates expressed as percentages, country-by-country breakdowns of the number of certificates, as well as the number of certificates issued according to industrial sectors. A Press Release gives full information, plus a link to a downloadable abridged version.

The ISO members are responsible for questions of implementation and application of ISO International standards and are your best point of contact should you have further questions about certification in a specific region or country.
