| SECTOR SPECIFIC APPLICATION OF ISO 9000:2000
ISO 9000:2000 is a generic standard. "Generic" means that this same standard can be applied to any organization, large or small, whatever its product - including whether its "product" is actually a service - in any sector of activity, whether it is a business enterprise, a public administration, or a government department.
In some sectors there have been sector-specific guidance documents developed or documents which augment the requirements already existing in ISO 9001. This is to either aid in the application of the standard or to tailor the requirements towards that particular sector.
