| INFORMATION ABOUT THE STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
To obtain information about the status of a project of a standard that has not yet been published, you can browse the ISO work programme of drafts and new work items, or you can use the Extended Search form which is accessible from the ISO technical work programme section, from the ISO Catalogue, or from the menu at the top of each page. Make sure you select "Technical programme (standards under development only" in the Search Scope section of the search form to search for projects of standards that have not been published yet. Once you have found the project you are looking for, follow the link on its reference number to get the full bibliographic data. The Stage code that you will see there, indicates the stage that the standard has reached in its development process. You can click on the code itself to see an explanation of it.
If you have any doubts when using the search function, help is available via the Help on using search link given at the top of the form.
If you want to purchase the draft of a standard, please note that some of these drafts may become available only after they have reached stage 40.20. You can check the availability of specific drafts by contacting our sales department or the ISO member in your country.
Unfortunately, we can never predict a precise date for the publication of an International Standard as the process of development relies on a collaborative approach between the technical experts who represent the ISO members in the various participating countries, and in addition each standard has to go through different ballots among the ISO members before it can be published. General information about the standards development process is given on the page Stages of the development of International Standards.
